UEPI’s Center for Community Food & Resilience leads the Los Angeles Subregion of the Southwest Regional Food Business Center, which is run by University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UCANR). RFBCs are an initiative of the USDA to build more resilient, diverse, and competitive local food systems throughout the country by supporting small-scale farmers and supply chain partners to grow their businesses and strengthen local and regional food supply chains, with a focus on underserved farmers, ranchers, and food businesses.
With a team of seven partner organizations at the forefront of urban agriculture in Los Angeles County, and a large network of urban farmers, small businesses, and advocates, the Los Angeles Subregion strives to develop and expand Los Angeles’ burgeoning urban agriculture sector by supporting urban producers and local food supply chain partners—particularly those led by and serving historically underserved individuals—to grow their presence as key players in our local and regional food systems and enhance food security in communities throughout Los Angeles County.
